Dell has announced that its latest series of Latitude laptops has received a significant performance boost, courtesy of Intel's advanced Meteor Lake processor, which comes equipped with a neural processing unit (NPU). This improvement is complemented by the addition of a dedicated Copilot button, streamlining access to Microsoft’s AI assistant on the Windows 11 platform.
The updated lineup covers the 3000 and 5000 series, introducing notable features and devices in the 7000 and 9000 series. Notably, the Latitude 7000 series is powered by Intel Core Ultra processors with Intel vPro. A standout feature is the new integrated multi-processor package, housing a central processing unit (CPU), graphics processing unit (GPU), and Intel's Meteor Lake-enabled NPU. Intel highlights that these processors will support over 100 optimized AI apps and more than 300 AI-optimized experiences, ranging from collaboration tools to heightened security.
The distribution of AI workload across the CPU, GPU, and NPU, depending on the application or use case, significantly enhances overall device performance and extends battery life. For instance, running a three-hour Teams call on a Latitude with an NPU can yield an additional 23 minutes of battery runtime.
Catering to professionals seeking a premium mobile experience, the new Latitude 7000 series provides screen size options of 13-inch, 14-inch, and 16-inch, including 2-in-1 form factors and ultralight models at 13-inch and 14-inch. The Latitude 7350 and 7450 Ultralight, weighing just 0.98kg and 1.05kg respectively, are designed for constant mobility. Alongside the new Intel Core Ultra processors, these ultralight offerings deliver AI PC performance in a highly portable form, featuring a Dell Collaboration Touchpad, 5MP webcams, and top-firing speakers for clear audio.
Dell emphasizes performance with advanced thermal solutions, enabling the device to run up to 51% faster in laptop mode. The Latitude 7350 Detachable, featuring a detachable keyboard and pen, supports working fully docked at a desk or on-the-go with the tablet.
In terms of sustainability, the new Latitude laptops are set to ship with 50% recycled cobalt in batteries. The Latitude 7350 Detachable goes a step further with a 90% recycled magnesium chassis and 75% recycled aluminum kickstand. Additionally, it boasts upgradeable WWAN and SSD, ensuring easy and fast serviceability.
The 14-inch Latitude 9450 2-in-1 is positioned as the pinnacle of collaboration and connectivity, featuring a haptic collaboration touchpad, QHD+ Infinity Edge display, top-firing speakers, and a new HDR webcam. It also comes with a Zero-Lattice Keyboard developed by Dell, offering improved tactile response with wide and curved backlit keys using mini-LEDs. To future-proof, the Latitude 9450 supports Wi-Fi 7.
